This person will help design, develop, communicate and apply bird sub-models of an Agent Based Model to simulate effects of interacting stressors on least bells vireos (an endangered bird species found in southern California). This video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0DQPcSk-Qg) provides a 1/2 hour project summary. Ideal candidates will be familiar with ABM and have strong scientific writing skills. Questions can be directed to Dr. Pat Zollner.
Fully funded PhD assistantship modeling past and future changes in avian distributions on public lands throughout Alabama.

A Post-Doctoral Schloar position is available in Dr. Pat Zollner’s lab in the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources at Purdue University. The PhD student will work collaboratively with a PhD student, project Co-PIs, and stakeholders to develop an Agent Based Model to understand how multiple stressors and interactions between those stressors as well as management scenarios impact populations of Least Bell’s Vireo in Southern California.

Empirical PhD The empirical PhD candidate will focus on the use of the RoboFalcons for understanding predator-flock interactions. The RoboFalcons provide a unique opportunity to study predator-prey interactions in real time through a camera on the back of a RoboFalcon that films the prey. While investigating RoboFalcons during attack of bird flocks at airbases, the empirical- PhD candidate will: - analyze empirical data of collective escapes related to attacks by RoboFalcons on flocks at […]
