The aim of this project is to improve the comparability and selection of spatial optimisation algorithms through the design, testing, and publication of spatial optimisation benchmarks. The developed benchmarks will be tested on case studies in spatial planning and economic geography. Starting date is October 1st, 2024.

The Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture’s Modelling Systems Team is searching for a PhD student starting in 2020 to work on spatial analysis of agricultural land intensification. This project expands multi-disciplinary knowledge of the trade-offs between the biophysical, social, and economic components of agricultural spatial analysis by exploring the context in which cropping intensity can be a solution for sustainable agriculture.
