MS/PhD position at the Auburn University College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment. Collaborative research focusing on the use of a published agent-based modeling framework, OvCWD, to inform Chronic wasting disease surveillance and management strategies.
We are seeking a motivated and qualified Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team in a research project focused on the Integration of crop models with the 3D unsaturated and saturated zone water and solute transport model to analyze the impact of deficit irrigation and nitrogen management strategies on crops, soil, and groundwater. The crop models used for integration will be the existing process-based models for corn and soybean.
Arizona State University’s School of Complex Adaptive Systems has an opening for a social or ecological scientist, with expertise in scientific modeling, to work with an interdisciplinary team to design, develop, refine, and apply cyberinfrastructure that supports computational models of the complex interactions and dynamics in social-ecological systems.
The Argelander professorship Integrated System Modeling for Sustainability Transitions at the Rheinische-Friedrich-Wilhelms-University Bonn, Germany, is inviting applications for a Position as a Doctoral researcher. This person will help design, develop, communicate and apply bird sub-models of an Agent Based Model to simulate effects of interacting stressors on least bells vireos (an endangered bird species found in southern California). This video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0DQPcSk-Qg) provides a 1/2 hour project summary. Ideal candidates will be familiar with ABM and have strong scientific writing skills. Questions can be directed to Dr. Pat Zollner.
The Department of Management Science at the University of Strathclyde is hiring for a lecturer position (Assistant professor).
The lecturer search is across all the Department’s research themes, with one of the five main areas of interest being complex systems simulation.
The Department conducts research on improving simulation methods rigour, including agent-based modelling, system dynamics, discrete-event simulation, and hybrid models. It also teaches the three simulation methods.
The BarfussLab seeks a motivated and talented doctoral researcher to join our team in modeling human-environment systems. The position is for three years with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will work on developing, implementing, and analyzing mathematical models of human-environment interactions at the intersection of complex systems science, multi-agent reinforcement learning, and social-ecological resilience.
The médialab at Sciences Po is hiring a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on mathematical modeling of political opinions, interactions in online social platforms, and algorithmic recommendations.
The offered position is part of the AI-Political Machines project, funded by the McCourt Institute, a research center established at Sciences Po in Paris and Georgetown University in Washington DC, devoted to conducting research tackling the challenges of the Internet, Artificial Intelligence, and th[…]
This postdoc will work with all collaborators under the direction of Dr. Pat Zollner to develop an Agent Based Model of the behaviors of cage free chickens. This work will be informed by extensive empirical work and will use ODD & TRACE for documentation to compare alternative cage free housing systems based on chicken welfare and laying of eggs outside nest boxes. Work will incorporate perspectives from industry as well as interested non-governmental organizations.
Objective: to understand, from models confronted with empirical data, how individuals’ opinions and preferences interact with the structuring of social networks and groups to generate collective behaviors and social dynamics.
Keywords: computational social science, opinion dynamics, complex systems modeling, web-mining & deep learning, cognitive science.
Abstract: The formal modeling of social phenomena has known several interdisciplinary contributions since the founding work of John Nash[…]
