The George Mason University, Krasnow Institute, Department of Computational Social Science (Fairfax, Va., USA) has a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor opening at the junior level for a person working in one or more of the following fields: computational sociology, computational economics, computational politics or computational geography. We have a slight preference for people working on social networks, ‘big data,’ and/or geographic information systems. The Department of Computational Social Science at Mason hosts Ph.D. and master’s degrees in computational social science and is one of the first departments of its type in the world. Our graduate students come from all over the world with credentials in both computer science and one of the social sciences. The U.S. government is a large and growing user of computational social science tools and methods, and Mason is ideally positioned to support sponsored-research activities in this domain. Application deadline is 15 December 2011. For full consideration, applicants must apply for position number F9543z at http://jobs.gmu.edu/; complete and submit the online faculty application; and upload a cover letter, CV, and a list of publications. Please also e-mail the CV and other documents to: Karen Underwood, Academic Programs Coordinator, Dept. of Computational Social Science, kunderwo@gmu.edu. EOE
