We have an opportunity for a Research Associate in Computational Social Simulation. This post will be associated with Professor Alison Heppenstall’s Health & Sustainability workstream in the Systems Science in Public Health programme, MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit. You will develop individual-level models, together with the underpinning methods, that capture and simulate the dynamic relationships between the way different places seek to manage their transition to carbon neutrality and potential impacts on health inequalities. You will use these models to produce estimates of distributional impacts needed for policy appraisal at high spatial resolution and assess the evolution over time of effects in the system.
The post holder will liaise with the other System Science programme researchers to formulate causal and dynamical model structures, use data from a wide range of sources, and knowledge elicited from experts to build models for prediction and provide quantification of associated uncertainties. You will also calibrate and validate these models in close dialogue with scientists and stakeholders.
This post is full time with funding for 3 years.
