The research project “A network science approach to social cohesion in European societies” (PATCHWORK), funded by the European Research Council (ERC Advanced Grant awarded to Dr. Miranda Lubbers), is hiring a post-doctoral researcher for a period of four years at the newly founded Laboratory for Computational Analysis of Egonetworks, Social Cohesion and Exclusion (COALESCE Lab) at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
The successful applicant will work within the international, interdisciplinary project team. His/her work will consist in simulating scaled-down societal networks based on the project’s novel, representative individual acquaintanceship network data for six countries and modeling network influence on cohesive attitudes such as solidarity and social trust using agent-based models, based on theory and calibrated with the project data. This will result in at least three international publications in high-impact academic journals, and will contribute to the objectives of the research project.
The appointment will initially be for 1 year. After satisfactory evaluation of the initial appointment, it will be extended to another 3 years.
The candidate is expected to start in May 2022 (if another starting date is preferred, please state this date in the letter). The job location is in UAB-Bellaterra (Barcelona). The candidate will be expected to be work at the UAB office to collaborate with other members of the team.
The candidate will become a member of the COALESCE Lab directed by Dr. Miranda Lubbers.
