Job Description:
Participation in research, teaching and administration:
- Participation in research projects/ scientific studies in the field of Computational Communication Science
- Participation in publications/ academic articles/ presentations
- We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months
- Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of students
- Participation in organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums
- Participation in administration of the department
Profile:
- Completed postgraduate degree (MA, MSc) in communication studies or related field
- Profound knowledge of empirical social research methods, especially quantitative methods
- Interest in learning methods of Computational Communication Science, e.g. agent-based modelling and simulation, network analysis, automated text analysis and/or image recognition
- Programming experience of R and/or Python, or the willingness to acquire these or other object-oriented programming languages
- Substantive interest in issues of public and political communication
- Didactic competences
- High ability to express yourself both orally and writing
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- High computer literacy (MS Office)
- Ability to work in teams
- Time management skills
- Reliability

Job Description:
Active participation in research, teaching and administration. This involves
- Collaboration in research projects/ scientific studies
- International publication and presentation activities
- Grant applications and acquisition of external funding
- Preparing / writing a (publication-ready) habilitation thesis
- Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Examination activities
- Supervision of students
- Contribution to the department administration
Profile:
- Doctoral degree/PhD degree in the field of communication studies or related field
- Publications in (international) journals and conference presentations
- Knowledge of computational and data-intensive methods of the social sciences (Computational Social Science), especially of one or more of the following methods: network analysis, agent-based modelling and computer simulation, time series analysis, text and data mining
- Programming experience, preferably with R and/or Python
- Excellent quantitative analytical skills and knowledge of statistical software
- Substantive interest in the areas of public sphere, political communication and/or science communication
- Didactic competences and teaching experience/ experience with e-learning is an advantage
- High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Capable software user (MS Office, relevant statistics packages)
- Ability to work in team
- Knowledge of university processes and structures advantageous
