Senior Research Fellow, Cranfield - Complex Systems Modelling

A vacancy has arisen in the Complex Systems Research Centre for a senior researcher on the STEPPING UP project, funded by the EPSRC. With experience of complex systems research methods and in particular agent based modelling tools, you will develop a UK model representing the Water Energy Food Nexus and showing its impact on the environment, economy and society.
Working closely with the STEPPING UP project team, located from Exeter to Dundee, and Surrey to Glasgow, you will have responsibility for interpreting case studies, collected data, practitioner practices and policies for governance, into agent types and rules. You will show how the selection of different scenarios and alternative forms of innovation would reduce Nexus impacts. The model you develop will be scaled up with support from the Science and Technology Facilities Council to run with Big Data at high performance.
You will collaborate to produce and disseminate findings for academic audiences and peer-reviewed journals as well as practitioner audiences.
You should have a first degree in a field relevant to complexity science or complex engineering systems such as computer science, engineering, applied mathematics (or equivalent) plus a PhD in a relevant area. Previous experience of water, energy and/or food sectors is highly desirable.
Experience of inter-disciplinary research is desirable, and you will have excellent communication skills including experience of academic writing.
