A Land Use Change Modeller is required for an interdisciplinary team working in a new EU Framework 7 project (www.redd-alert.eu) aimed at evaluating bottom-up approaches to reduce net global greenhouse gas emissions through avoided deforestation in the tropics. The post will focus on evaluating mechanisms for ensuring national-level benefits are distributed equitably, effectively and sustainably to stakeholders at a range of levels.
You will possess a PhD in a relevant subject, together with experience in modelling the social and economic processes of land use change and its impact on associated biophysical processes. An understanding of the processes of tropical deforestation, and knowledge of current REDD discussions in various global fora, would also be advantageous. Experience of inter-disciplinary working, project management, and a track record in publishing peer-reviewed papers and generating external funding are all desirable.
As this position is externally funded through an EU Framework 7 project, it is a Limited Term position of three years’ duration. Starting salary within the range £26,610- £29,566 per annum with excellent employee benefits.
