Anticipated start date is August 16, 2015. Under the direction of Carlos Castillo-Chavez, the Simon A. The center is a leader in preparing individuals from underrepresented groups in the STEM fields for professional careers in the mathematical and modeling sciences. The appointment will be jointly held between both units with tenure in the School of Human Evolution and Social Change.
Minimum qualifications include PhD or terminal degree in applied mathematics, computational or quantitative social/life science, computational statistics, or related field by the time of appointment; ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and methods in human biological and social evolution and dynamics; and capacity to contribute to instruction in applied mathematics, global health, anthropology, human evolutionary biology, and/or environmental social science. Applicant interests must complement, contribute to, and/or expand upon existing faculty research foci and academic programs in both the Simon A Levin Center and the School of Human Evolution and Social Change. We require evidence of potential for high levels of research productivity and impact, and teaching and mentoring excellence.
Desired qualifications include demonstrated commitment to supporting, mentoring, and advancing students from underrepresented groups, which include women in STEM disciplines.
The initial application deadline is January 26, 2015. If not filled, reviews will occur every two weeks thereafter until the search is closed. Applicants must apply online at http://academicjobsonline.org and include a letter of application, curriculum vitae, the names and email addresses of three references, and a representative paper/manuscript.
