Post-doctoral Opportunity-Collective Action in Social Networks – Arizona State University


The Center for the Study of Institutional Diversity (http://csid.asu.edu/) at Arizona State University invites applications for an exciting post-doctoral position in collective action and social networks. This postdoc will conduct research within a NSF funded project (http://csid.asu.edu/tipping-collective-action-social-networks-0). The research is computational and the ideal candidate has training in (agent-based) modeling, network analysis and data mining. Furthermore, the ideal candidate can demonstrate successful collaboration within social science projects. Such a computational social scientist should have a recent PhD in a relevant discipline.

Date of Appointment: Available immediately

Duration of Appointment: 24 months (with a 6-month and 12-month performance review)

Scope: The postdoctoral scientist will collaborate with other researchers in the modeling collective action in social networks and the analysis of use data of a mobile application. Required skills include mathematical modeling, computer programming, and knowledge of network theory. Knowledge of data mining and advanced statistical analysis is recommended. Postdoc will mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and work with researchers in diverse fields, such as computer science, psychology, sustainability, applied mathematics and economics. .

Salary: Arizona State University will provide a $40,000 - 50,000 annual salary dependent on the expertise of the applicant plus health care benefits.
