The Position:
We are seeking a highly motivated and high achieving individual with a recent
PhD in Economics, Geography, Operations Research or a related field with
interest in integrated environmental economic modelling for a three year
Postdoctoral Fellowship in ‘Forecasting land use change in Australia: moving
from possibilities to probabilities’.
You will take a leadership role in developing science and modelling capability for
forecasting land use change in Australia, and will work with a team of highly
motivated scientist from CSIRO and in close collaboration with leading
international environmental economists.
As part of this team, you will work to model future scenarios for land use, the
impacts of land use change on ecosystem services, and the effectiveness of
policy, planning, and governance and publish results in highest quality
international scientific journals. The work will take place in the context of the
Australian National Outlook—one of CSIRO’s high profile interdisciplinary
projects.
The position is based at the beautiful Waite Campus in Adelaide—one of
Australia’s most livable cities. You will become a key part of a lively, and highly
productive interdisciplinary research group. As a Postdoctoral fellow, you will
receive a structured training program to help you realise your full research and
publishing potential.

Salary: $81K - $88K plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be successful in this position you will need:
· A PhD, or will shortly satisfy the requirements for a PhD degree, in
economics, applied mathematics, geography, environmental science,
statistics, or operations research or a related field.
· Ability or potential to conduct innovative research in integrated economic
and environmental modelling and assessment of land systems.
· Ability or potential to design, programme, implement, and report
quantitative economic models.
· Originality, creativity and innovation in solving problems and introducing
new directions and approaches.
· Recent skills and experience in computer programming in at least one
modern programming language
· A track record of publication in scientific journals.
Note: Owing to the terms of CSIRO Postdoctoral Fellowships, you must not have
more than 3 years relevant post doctoral experience.
