Northern Indian state threatened with flood


NEW DELHI, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) – A large part of northern India is threatened with flood as seven rivers in Uttar Pradesh state are in spate with rains continuing in most parts of the state, reported Indo-Asian News Service on Wednesday.
The Burrhi Rapti river in Kakrahi, Sharda river in Palia Kalan, Ghaghra river in Elgin Bridge, Ayodhya and Turtipar, Rapti river in Balrampur were flowing above the danger mark while the Ganga river was flowing at the danger mark in Varanasi, a major holy city in northern India, the report quoted India’s Central Water Commission as saying.
