Program Goals
Develop a deeper understanding of the theory and methods used to describe and predict the behavior of complex systems.
Explore the latest applications of complex systems science to diverse research questions.
Collaborate on a transdisciplinary research project in complex systems science.
Connect with future colleagues and collaborators and the SFI research community.
You will play a key role in promoting excellence within your faculty and enhancing your expertise’s visibility through teaching and research. Responsibilities include developing a cutting-edge research program in remote sensing of the environment, focusing on areas like image analysis, geospatial data, and AI for sustainable cities. If aligned with IVADO’s objectives on environmental big data, your research may qualify for an IVADO professorship with enhanced starting conditions.
🚀 Exciting Leadership Opportunity at VMASC! 🚀
Old Dominion University’s Virginia Modeling, Analysis & Simulation Center (VMASC) is looking for a visionary Executive Director to lead our cutting-edge research initiatives in Modeling & Simulation (M&S) and data analytics. This is your chance to guide strategic planning, foster national and international partnerships, and drive innovation that solves real-world problems.
sistemaFutura seeks an experienced computational social scientist to collaborate on two ABMs we are building: on financial behaviors and on health behaviors. We currently have a 4 month opening, but that is likely to increase. We combine behavioral science insights and interventions in the field with our models, so BeSci experience is welcome, but not not required.
Agent-based modelling position to develop theories of transformative change in social-ecological systems, particularly in the context of natural resource management and food systems. The modeller will work in close cooperation with empirical researchers and philosophers to translate empirical and theoretical knowledge into ABMs and use the models to test and further develop hypotheses about transformative change. She/he/them will also work on developing methods for causal analysis of ABMs.
The aim of this project is to understand and quantify the roles of sociocultural and biophysical factors in the evolution of linguistic diversity using an agent-based modelling approach. The spatial agent-based model should simulate how and where languages (agents) change, merge, and split over time. You will use linguistics theory in combination with large datasets of environmental, demographic, sociocultural and linguistic variables to define the model rules.
The Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture at the University of Tasmania, Australia, seek qualified applicants for two PhD projects. One project aims to integrate spatial technologies with temporal process-based models to improve the spatio-temporal prediction of soil carbon at scale. The second project aims to develop and apply algorithms for process-based models to simulate impacts of crop waterlogging and potential farming systems adaptation options.
The International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) is offering a position for an Agent Based Modeler to join their team. The role focuses on advancing the understanding and assessment of energy demand pathways in cities.
The ERC project ARISER (Access to crop diversity and small farms’ resilience to climate variability in African drylands: The role of seed and information networks, https://www.ariser.org/en) is seeking for a postdoctoral research fellow experienced in the modelling of social-ecological systems
We are excited to announce an opportunity for a talented agent-based modeler to join our team at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). This role focuses on advancing the understanding and assessment of energy demand pathways in cities.
