Swarmfest 2017

Swarmfest is the annual meeting of the Swarm Development Group (SDG), the creators and developers of the Swarm Simulation System. It is the longest running agent-based modeling (ABM) conference. Although the conference dates back to the early days of the Swarm ABM package, attendees today use a wide range of software including AnyLogic, Mason, NetLogo, Repast, Swarm, and more.

Keynote speaker this year will be Joshua M. Epstein. Dr. Epstein is a pioneer in agent-based computational modeling. He has authored or co-authored several books including Growing Artificial Societies: Social Science from the Bottom Up, with Robert Axtell (MIT Press/Brookings Institution); Nonlinear Dynamics, Mathematical Biology, and Social Science (Addison-Wesley), and Generative Social Science: Studies in Agent-Based Computational Modeling (Princeton University Press). His latest book is Agent_Zero: Toward Neurocognitive Foundations for Generative Social Science (Princeton, 2014).

New to the Swarmfest 2017 conference this year, peer-reviewed full papers accepted to the conference will be invited to publish in a special volume by Springer. The tracks are:

  • Works-in-progress track (1-2 page abstract) – Due July 17, 2017 (extended)
  • Student poster track (1-2 page abstract) – Due July 17, 2017 (extended)
  • Full peer-reviewed paper track (10-page maximum) – Due June 23, 2017 (closed)

All papers and abstracts should be submitted under the appropriate track for peer review through the EasyChair conference website.
